The Elba Island, part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, is a real surprise for those who still don’t know it, with its preserved environment, the beaches and the uncontaminated sea, the sunny villages and the mountain area, ideal for lovers of mountain-biking and trekking. The Hotel Club Airone is situated a short distance away from Portoferraio, surrounded by a lush garden park stretching all the way down to the sea. The course has 9 holes with double tees and is 5,144 m (3.2 mi) long with a par of 68. One of the most interesting holes is number 2, with a 197 m (215 yd) par 3, downhill and with crosswind always present. The out of bounds runs on the right up to 40 m (43 yd) from the green and it blends with the provincial road on the back. The green is slightly sloping, relatively narrow, protected in front by three large bunkers.

The whole course winds among oak, pine and eucalyptus woods and is one of the first golf courses created on an Italian island. The scents in the air, the silence, the birds of the Elba Natural Park and the view stretching all the way down to the sea are the backdrop to a game that promises to be interesting and challenging at the same time.
