Yoga Week
16-22 June 2024
The art of happiness

An early summer dedicated to get rid of the stress and the frenzy of everyday life, and taking care of yourself: your body, your heart and your mind.
Hotel Airone, in collaboration with Cristiana Biogli and Sergio Busi, teachers and founders of the DRUMA YOGA school in Florence, offers 6 days of seaside, good food and yoga practice at the beginning and end of the day.
We will practice haṭha yoga and meditation, and reflect on the art of happiness through readings and comments on selected passages of yoga philosophy.
We will have a yoga room available, with a corner reserved for the sale of books and audio about yoga and meditation, and we will also dedicate moments to practice outdoors.
The week is open to everyone, no special experience is required.

Cristiana Biogli

Cristiana Biogli (1975), having completed classical high school studies, graduated with honors in Moral Philosophy from the Department of Philosophy of the University of Florence. During her first university years (1996) she approached the practice of yoga which she never abandoned and the meeting with Sergio Busi in 2002, her future husband, marked the beginning of her experience as a yoga teacher. Together they founded DRUMA YOGA in Florence in 2004, a cultural association that aims to spread the practice and study of yoga in what the authors consider its fundamental pillars: āsana and pranayama, meditation and the study of philosophy.

She leads birth support groups during pregnancy and also with newborns after childbirth. Her training in this area embraces the teachings received from Dr. Federick Leboyer, by Dr. Michel Odent and from the Elementary School of Obstetric Art in Florence, where he graduated in “Birth Preparation” in 2006. In 2020 she published her first book with Mimesis, co-written with Sergio, “YOGA AND KLESA. MENTAL AFFLICTIONS AND THE YOGA METHOD THAT REMOVES SUFFERING. In Patanjali’s Yogasutras and in classical Indian philosophy.”

The yoga she proposes is a practice of awareness born from her personal integration between the asana and pranayama techniques of hathayoga and the teachings and techniques of Zen Buddhism transmitted by Ven. Thich Nhat Hanh, her spiritual Master.

She proposes clear, precise and gradual work with the body, which can be followed with eyes closed, without making mistakes. From warming up the main joints we slowly arrive at maintaining the classic postures of hatha yoga experienced as a powerful antidote to distraction, confusion and ordinary dissatisfaction of the mind.

Sergio Busi

Sergio Busi (1959) lived in India for 14 years (1982-1996) where he studied Indian philosophy and theology, and practiced yoga according to traditional monastic methods, obtaining a teaching qualification. From 1996 to 1998 he lived in Kathmandu and studied Mahayana Buddhism with Tibetan lamas. Returning to Italy, he graduated with honors in Gnoseology at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Florence.

In 2004 he founded the DRUMA YOGA Cultural Association in Florence together with his wife Cristiana.

From 2002 to 2017 he practiced yoga with inmates of the prisons in Florence, the “Mario Gozzini” penitentiary institute and the Sollicciano prison.

From 2013 to 2015 he was a yoga teacher at ACF Fiorentina and in the 2016/2017 season at AC Milan.

In 2020 he published his first book with Mimesis, co-written with Cristiana, “YOGA E KLESA. MENTAL AFFLICTIONS AND THE YOGA METHOD THAT REMOVES SUFFERING. In Patanjali’s Yogasutras and in classical Indian philosophy.”

His philosophical training is reflected in the conduct of yoga sessions. Reading significant passages of yoga philosophy and Buddhism always serves as an introduction to the practice of hatha yoga. The postulating exercise is strong and intense, and is constantly accompanied by listening to the breath which helps the mind to empty. The final deep relaxation is already meditation and leads the practitioner to experience the subtle states of the body and consciousness.
